How We Pick Products
Our lists aren't based on gut feeling or a quick scroll through Amazon's first page of results. Here's the actual process behind every list we publish.
1. We search wide, not narrow
For a topic like Halloween 2026, we don't run one search and call it done. We run 20 or more separate Amazon searches across every angle of the topic, pulling in every result we can find. For Halloween alone, that means scanning more than 2,000 individual products before a single one makes a list.
2. We set a quality floor
Every product has to clear a basic bar before it's even considered: a genuinely strong star rating, enough reviews that the rating means something, and signs of recent purchase activity, so we're not recommending something that's quietly been abandoned by sellers or buyers.
3. We remove duplicates
Amazon search results are full of the same item listed by different sellers, or the same product split into a dozen color and size variants. We collapse those down by matching titles and photos, so one item doesn't take up five spots on a list under different names.
4. We score every photo
A product can have great specs and still be a boring photo. We score every remaining product image for how striking, giftable, and shareable it actually looks, using AI-assisted image review alongside editorial judgment, because a list like this lives or dies on whether people want to screenshot it.
5. Editors build the list with variety rules
From there, human editors assemble the final list using variety rules: no near-identical items back to back, a mix of price ranges, and a real fit with the theme. A list isn't useful if it's ten versions of the same inflatable skeleton.
6. We fact-check against the real listing
Every description we write is checked against the actual Amazon listing. We don't invent features, sizes, or specs that aren't in the product's own title and listing details.
7. We keep lists current
As the season moves, we refresh lists and remove items that disappear from Amazon, so you're not clicking through to a dead listing in the middle of shopping.
What we don't do
We don't accept paid placements of any kind. We don't show exact prices on our lists, since Amazon prices change daily and a number on our page would be wrong within hours. And we don't copy or paraphrase Amazon customer reviews, star ratings, or review counts into our own copy.
